These pix were all taken in downtown Charleston. The first was taken outside of City Market, a very large flea market, if you will. The people out front were basket weavers, making baskets out of sweetgrass. We met an older couple there who had a booth (he from South Carolina, she from Newfoundland) and talked to them for a bit. They sold glass-framed butterflies and, lo and behold, he came over to me with two of them in his hand, asked me which one I liked better, and then gave it to me! Gave it to me! For free! And they weren't exactly cheap either. That's the first time on this whole trip that that has ever happened. Moving on, the next shot is of some of the estates lining the Battery Park waterfront. After that is a pic of a very tidy residential back street. And last but not least, what Ed dubbed the "Forrest Gum Pole." Yuck, yuck.

Charlston looks charming and there really must be some charming people there if it was the first place someone gave you something nice for FREE. It sounds lovely and you will probably cherish it as a great memory.
Keep that magic camera taking all those great shots.
Love,
Nancy & Mike
